My mother wants a new car: here are her requirements:
Seven seats.
Lots of space behind the seven seats
More economical than her GMT900 Suburban
She doesn’t want a Honda Minivan
Contenders:
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
I’m trying to get her to buy a Minivan rather than a full size SUV, but she’s one of those consumers that thinks that if they look bigger they are safer. I also want her to downsize downright to a Hybrid or something.

Out of those options? Get the ferd, even though I’d miss the v8. The Kia minivan isn’t a bad option as far as I know, but I’d rather shoot myself than drive one every day even though I have to admit they are more practical than anything else.

I have no idea how you made that cool list, but Subaru A scent. MPG 27mpg is not bad at all for a big hauler with AWD. Subaru also gets better than their epa rating. Mines rated at 27MPG highway and I get 30MPG.

Good reviews on the Expedition all around. As for other options, Not tons of space behind 7 seats but highly recommend the Mazda CX-9
Or Acura MDX/Honda Pilot
Or Chevy Traverse/Buick equivalent I forgot the name

The Mazda is a good option! it’s got 250hp, right?

It sounds like a good option too. Lets see how she takes on it.

I really like it but it’s so large..

With P remium, yes. 227HP otherwise with R egular . 310 Lb-ft torque is good!

310lb-ft... that’s really good. it’s 50 shy of my Kia and it has 50% more turbos and cylinders.

For 7 seats with plenty of extra space behind the seating, over here we’d go for a van based vehicle.
Ford Transit Custom Tourneo.
Mercedes Benz Vito

She’s been toying around with getting a Viano, but to be honest, Diesel is not very widespread in Mexico and it tends to be really low quality. I know of many people with Diesel cars that have to get their engines checked very often.

Is there no petrol options or similar van based vehicles?
![]() 11/01/2018 at 14:45 |

Well, there’s the V250 but it’s very expensive.

I rented a Sedonia once. Its nice so long as you keep it below 80mph, anything above it and it becomes really nervous.

So where do trucks fill up?

Highways have diesel stations, but cities usually don’t. Plus our diesel is very bad.

yeah, I wouldn’t trust a GMT900 like hers above 60 so we’re good.

Grand Caravan GT.
Cheaper to buy and better driving dynamics than the Pacifica.
Or Ford Transit Connect.

How about a nice Vochos Limo...
Or a Tsuru...

I must admit I am enticed. Though I must also admit this must be revolting to my mother.

Run it past her and let us know how she reacts
Lol

So... A Transit then? A new Expedition would be slightly more economical, but I think the Transit wins on power:weight when paired
with the EcoBoost
. Maybe? Now I need to look up some figures.

Kia!

I might be a little biased to it

Strike the gm twins. Transmission issues abound on the new models, and they’ve barely been out all that long. The old ones had engine, A/C, and infotainment issues.
CX-9s are great. Not that roomy though behind the third row.
Explorer and Flex shouldn't be overlooked.
